WKRZ Is NOT #1 in Scanton--Wilkes-Barre?

98.5 WKRZ has been #1 in Northeast PA for as long as I can remember. It is owned by Audacy and has a Top 40 format. The afternoon DJ, Jeff Walker, has been in that time slot for something like four decades.

But in the latest ratings, WKRZ is tied for #2 with country sister station 101.3 WGGY. The new #1 station is 106.9 WEZX, a classic rock station owned by Times-Shamrock. Maybe WKRZ's streak isn't completely unbroken. But it is almost always the top station in Scranton--Wilkes-Barre.

WKRZ has consistently been in the Top 4, and the Top 4 stations has basically been the same, just shuffled around for years.

Here's the ratings from 2006. The Top 4 consists of some order of WKRZ, WGGY, WMGS, and WEZX, just like it does right now.

They're doing fine, and have honestly fared much better than some CHR stations through this CHR doldrums period.

WKRZ was #1 from Summer 2013 to Nov. 2019... it then resumed its #1 streak in Feb. 2020 - that streak lasted until March 2024. It has finished as the runner up to WEZX five times since then.
