Did anyone hear 'KRZ today doing the "Requestmas"?

I thought it was great! Not only did we get to help a great cause, we got to hear songs no one plays on the radio anymore! :)
 
Kay Are who...heh...who ever thought they'd slide so quickly into the also-ran pile? I'll be honest, when I saw the subject here I thought maybe they went all-Christmas leading up to a format change. Scary though to see how quickly a former contender can be relegated to irrelevant. And can you see them coming back at all? I can't. I mean, not without at least a format tweak if not out and out abandonment...and certainly cleaning house. Start with Walker. PU!
 
Sorry masterg, just exaggerating a little. Trolling for the Entercomers! Heh. You're right, they are still respectable but comparatively speaking "they ain't what they used to be" and that's been a trend, the slide I mean.

I say bring back the old WARM format! Kidding...I'm with you on that too.

Then of course there's Froggy.

And now Rising has left. Just one bad card after another out there on 315.
 
Okay, maybe we're a "full year surveyed market", but WHY is everyone making changes in the 3rd month of the fall book? (trend #2 is due this week). ANY CHANGE SPELLS DOOM WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENS (except full Christmas music done well ;) ). Wait until the book is done. Spring and Fall are STILL more important in the advertisers eyes.
 
I think KRZ is a great station! Yah, Jeff Walker has been there like FOREVER, but I enjoy his show...it's familiar....

The cool thing about KRZ is they play songs when they're NEW, they don't wait for other stations to play it out and then add it to play it out more....
 
Sorry djgrrrrrl, for once, I wasn't knocking KRZ, just the state of radio in NEPA.

Like sands through the hour glass...so are the days of Our Lives...in NEPA radio.

I'm not a steady listner of KRZ...I'ts a good station...not great...Personalities are great..and make the station sound good.
I have to give guys like Jeff Walker credit for staying in the game so long. Music changes for every generation and I would assume that Jeff has now hit at least 2 or 3 generation changes. For me, as I got older and belive me I'm old...Most of the music I like as far as rock and roll is concerned is locked in the 50's 60's and early 70's. Djrrrl, you said you like them because they play songs when they're new....At WARM we did that all the time. Never waited for another station to play them. BUT.. some of the time they never played a song that was in the top ten in Billboard (mag for those not familiar)

I may take a lot of flak for this...then again...I can take it. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
 
Waunderlust: Nah, I knew you weren't knocking KRZ, and if you were, that's totally your opinion....we all have one! I get what you're saying about NEPA right now, KRZ hasn't made any changes..they just did that for a day on their station to raise money for something...BHT, however is another story. They made some changes this month, maybe that's what you were referring to? They took out the morning show, replaced it with one from Texas and fired the PD! Talk about changes....LOL.
 
I agree with you Tom, I sometimes wonder if Jeff Walker's days there are numbered, they must be since he's been there so damn long and they probably pay him a LOT....so, they'll kick him out and get some young schmuck in there and pay him probably less than half of what Jeff makes!

....but....all things considered, I've always loved radio and continue to be a part of the insanity...LOL.
