WKSC Afternoon Change

Tik Tak and the Freakshow - out. Again, and I'm thinking for good this time.

Supposedly, Rick Gillette is holding a "talent search" of some sort. Interestingly, however, I saw Java Joel's name among the first in today's All Access Action. Now, I'm not one to jump to conclusions, but with a new PD and Programming Consultant (Dom Theodore, of WKQI/Detroit and WFLZ/Tampa Bay fame) - could it be?

Or, there have been a ton of high profile CHR talents exiting over the course of the last month or so. Hmmmm... thoughts?

Who cares what this new "PD" is planning on doing. Tik Tak did one of the most innovative things this market has seen in years back on June 16th by bringing back the 80s/90s dance classics this market loves.

It had an unbelievable reaction where I think half this market was listening and they were about to destroy
B 96 in the dust with it. Kiss FM on June 17th was the talk of this market! He did forsee himself getting fired for this but did not care because he knew this is what this market has been missing. Maybe that is why Mack at Night decided not to continue with the idea following that week.

The people threatened if he got fired for this they would never listen to the station again and now less than a few weeks on the job, that PD better already be looking for another job cause he just turned Kiss into the ground. That is corporate radio for you though. If you think out of the box and come up with a brillant idea that is not a top exec or PD then you are out of a job! That is why I decided never to go forward with a radio career after college.

Tik Tak will be remembered for what he did. If you check out his myspace account, I would be scared if I was at Kiss FM. Many are boycotting the station for what they did. At least there will be the internet to listen to where there is more imagination that "Cheap/Crappy Channel"

Maybe B 96 will notice all of this and finally wake up out of the fog they have been in for the last several years.....

Kiss FM has/had a wonderful opportunity with this....but they will find a way to screw it up for themselves. It's a shame......all from some new PD that had a problem with tic tak in Detroit as well?
