WKSS PITCHING UP WAY TOO MUCH??

lately i've noticed that kiss is pitching up their songs more than ever and wkci seems to have stopped pitching up their songs. i know zmx has never pitched up. has anybody else noticed that songs on kiss sound a lot faster than songs on wkci? what are your opinions on pitching up songs? or in today's digital age, should songs on the radio mimic songs that listners are downloading, etc?

Usually if this is done done, it should be subtle enough that it's not noticed. Stations such as KISS "scrunch" the track in the hard drive, ever so slightly where it shouldn't be noticable, but it shaves a bit of time off of the track. This allows the station to truthfully say they played x number of songs an hour, and yet a few seconds off of each track frees up time for more spots. Bottom line is mostly money

it is never done for money. it is done to make the station sound more up-beat, and the competition to sound sleepy. none-the-less, lately wkss is sounding way too pitched to me.

Kiss is pitched up as I noticed by having them on in the car. Also something about KC 101 their sound doesn't sound so good. They need to fix the audio as when they get out of a rock song into a hip hop song. But overall its not to bad.

I used to check how fast TIC was pitched up vs the turntables at WESU in the old studios because the EBS feed was TIC and found they were usually .3 % on a Technics SP-15, it wasn't often I could try to match a song as most of the stuff they played wasn't something we'd have at WESU, but every now and then I could plop something I did have and pitch match. I wanted to try it with WKSS, but never brought a portable radio in to try.
