WKSW/Click 101.5 reception

I was wondering how the reception was for the new WKSW/Enon "Click 101.5" tower in the Dayton metro and surrounding areas. Having zero problems here in Clark County(No surprise there since the tower is in Clark County).

It comes in just north of Dayton International Airport, but has some issues (that is in a car). It doesn't go into Miami County very well, especially to the northern area.

Some multipath effects noted along the US 35/Dayton-Xenia corridor. It seems like they have the highs turned up a lot on the processing which really makes the blending effect of the car radio noticeable.

Good strong signal down here in Centerville area. It will be interesting to see how far east the signal travels since 101.5 out of Gallipolis used to blast into Washington Court House and almost into Xenia.

Using a rooftop antenna, it's coming in OK in Fairfield. It's about the same strength as 95.3 and 95.7 down here. It's not perfect, but listenable. I can't get it in the car.

I was up in the Urbana area yesterday and it was coming in strong up there as well. Never faded or flickered.
Speaking of Urbana, when I was driving past the old 101.7 tower I was wondering what Main Line will do with it now that it's no longer in use. I'm sure selling off that property will make them some money. I wonder what they'll do with the old tower itself. Scrap it? Tear it down? Anyone have any idea?
Also good to hear that 101.5 is coming in in Centerville. They're coverage will depend on how well this station does...so far i've heard all positive feedback from the folks i've told to tune in.

Does Main Line own that tower? I noticed there is a cell phone antenna on there as well. Does the Cell company own it, or Main Line?

I remember passing by that Urbana tower on Dugan Rd. a number of years ago on several occasions when driving to Marysville or northern Columbus.

Whether the tower site gets sold or whatever it's still going to leave a huge void in Urbana and Springfield....a loss which hopefully may get the ball rolling for some sort of live local radio presence in Clark and Champaign counties once again...either in the form of an LPFM with audiostreaming or an internet-only service similar to Scores Broadcast.com.

Jim Bissey managed (and I think helped start-up) that station in the 60s (as WCOM) John Hall helped re-invent it in the 80s with the callsign/ownership change to the present WKSW....but the least Mainline could have possibly done is keep its studio in Springfield.

Though the new format seems to be off to a successful running start,I am a bit disappointed.

I met John Hall in October of '93 when he was running The Record Hive inside the Marketplace in Springfield. TOTAL class act and one heck of a nice guy! He was the first air personality/jock I ever met. I talked his ear off that day. John had a great, very distinct voice as well. He's definitely in my Top 10 all-time favorite air personalities of all-time. I remember him on WIZE, and later WAZU(Pre-Big WAZU days)in the mid 80s, and later WLW. I believe he also was on WBNS-FM in their Oldies days as well. I never listened to 101.7 when he launched it...I wish i'd have known he was on there and I would've tuned in. I was saddened to hear of his passing in 2004. I was enlightened to hear that the WIZE/WULM studios in Springfield were dedicated to him a few years back. Is he in the Dayton Broadcasters' Hall of Fame? If not, he should be inducted stat.

Sadly John Hall isn't in the hall of fame..at least not yet. Wish I could have met the guy at WIZE when it was still running successfully in the 70s. Sounlds like he was a great individual...and I'll always remember that powerful and booming voice of his when he did those spots for Warehouse Records...
