WKTU's Very Strong Ratings

Continuing the discussion with the release of the latest PPM's...

WKTU finishes in the Top 5, tied with sister station WAXQ (in fact, all Clear Channel FM stations except Power 105.1 [14th] made the Top 6).

Also, for the first time, WKTU has broken the 5 million cume mark, joining only sisters Lite FM and another 5 million newcomer, Z-100 (that's right, WCBS-FM's cume, believe it or not, is just under 4.5 million) as stations with over 5 million cume in New York City. (And yes, smart alecks, I'm sure the original WKTU's cume shattered 5 million back in the late 70's; they didn't have PPM meters back then. ;D )

Well, that was a DIFFERENT 'KTU, when it was Disco 92 under Infinity Broadcasting back then. Totally different station than the current 'KTU so in that sense, no comparison...PPM's or not :)

No, the original San Juan Racing's KTU did not cume 5 million... in the diary sample cume is nowhere near what it is in PPM. With about an 18 cume share, when the 12+ population was lower, we are talking about a cume in the range of 2.5 million in the peak disco years of the late 70's.

It was a different station, but until 1981, it was owned by San Juan Racing, the radio group that came out of the El Comandante race track in Puerto RIco.
