On the Raleigh board it said WKXB was decreasing power and moving its city of license so WCMC could increase power.

Wikipedia says WKXB will go urban, but there's no source and whoever wrote it didn't use good grammar.

Haven't heard about a possible urban format, but WKXB is owned by Sunrise Broadcasting, a subsidiary of Capitol Broadcasting Company. With WKXB and co-owned Raleigh market station WCMC sharing 99.9 FM, they're basically decreasing WKXB's power/class to increase WCMC's. What is now WCMC was originally licensed to Chase City, Virginia, but was moved into Creedmoor to serve Raleigh-Durham, but it was still pretty tight with WKXB licensed to Burgaw. Wilmington is a fairly compact radio market, so the decrease shouldn't drastically hurt WKXB's coverage, though their out-of-market reach will take a hit.

Don't look for WKXB to change formats anytime soon, in the last ratings book they finished #1, but a decrease in power
could hurt them, but since their core base of listeners is within Wilmington, it should be OK.

It would not suprise me at all if Jammin' went urban ac; for the simple fact that we can't seem to keep a format on the air in this town for more than two years.

If rhythmic ac was moved to another radio station, my bet would be on 104.5. Sunny has been on the air for just over one year and has seen very little raiting success. Considering the fact that Sunny's raitings are not that great; and they are pouring tons of money into their high profile jocks, telecast, contests, and syndicated shows I personaly do not expect to see Sunny around in two years.

Rock 104.5 Was a herritage station I point this out because when Rock went off the air Will FM lasted eight months on 104.5

Also take note Jammin' 99.9 was Sea Comm's baby then there was the NextMedia buyout in 2004. When NextMedia came along there were a bunch of format flips, tweaks and one signal swap.

It is 2010 NextMedia is gone because Sunrise Broadcasting has bought them out. I do not have a source but I have fallowed wilmington radio for years. If history has taught me anything we could and I stress could be in for a few changes in the next one to two years.
