WKY and KNIB going to Switch?

It's sad to see a heritage station flipped like a pancake. One could blame it on the passing of Jack Mildren or the new and improved Sports Animal signal, but it really never had a chance from day one. Let's face it, the station was never really promoted and many people in Oklahoma never knew the format even existed. How many billboard signs have you seen promoting Jox? Even then, it takes time to build a solid reputation and following (well more than a year and a half). How many advertisers do you think would be willing to buy spots on a station that has flipped formats this many times in such a short time span? Really...give it up and sell it to someone who cares !!

And the Jox 930 website is history.. just a generic WKY Logo. Wasn't it just a year ago they started doing an electronic countdown?

Instead of going back to Spanish (which didnt work on 930 either) how about Scott Shannon's true oldies format? That would get some ratings on the cheap and take a nibble out of KOMA-FM.

Me too, I hope with these major corporations still hemorrhaging money and pay-up time to the creditors coming soon next year, they'll unload some of their weaker performing AM's.

Boys, we may as well try to raise the USS Oklahoma. They got her raised after the Zero's bombed Pearl, then she sank again in tow to California for refitting. Bottom line is, you can only sink a ship so many times. WKY was one of the fighting ships of the line and the bastards who last sailed her didn't know the stem from the stern. They should have the license revoked and be forced to turn out the lights!

Hopefully Citadel will put "Jox 105.3" on WWLS HD-2. so it can be heard by "sports fans" outside of NW Oklahoma City.

If Jox ends up on 105.3, they can't simulcast it on 104.9-2 because the two stations are no longer co-owned. 105.3 is now owned by the Last Bastion Trust and can't be operated in conjunction with the Citadel stations.
