WKY and KOMA-AM ... I mean KOKC

Why is this board as dead as those two stations?

What is KOKC doing now, and what is WKY not doing?

And vice versa.

Do you know the way to San Jose?

Do you know the way to Chickasha?

Do you know how to say Chickasha?

Which has been around longer? Gary England ... or dirt.

What happened to Dale Wehba?

Was Charlie Tuna the best DJ ever to work in Oklahoma City? Or maybe Ronnie Kaye?

Do you think the Sooners will have a winning season? Any chance of beating Texas?

Any chance of beating Nebraska?

Is groovin' better than being HEAVY?

I know ... I know :)

> Why is this board as dead as those two stations?

Because all Oklahoma radio stations are uninspiring and unexciting! Now excuse me while I go listen to my mix CDs! No, still haven't sprung for an iPod yet. Sometimes, I even drive in silence! It's an interesting experience...and equally entertaining.

You can have my 8-track players ...

The only pod I know about was in the movie "2001" ...

I love it! Sooooo True!
When I lived in Phoenix you couldn't
get people to shutup! It was great!
And even radio in Phoenix was anti-climatic.
Okay...maybe a little more exciting because
radio people actually posted and talked openly.

It's definitely different here. VERY QUIT!

So here's my two cents:

> Why is this board as dead as those two stations?

Because it's business as usual. However I will say
I'm listening to WKY more so than ever before.
I like Paul Harvey and I like SOME of the local talk.
Not all, but some. As for KOKC....(fill in the blank)

> Do you know the way to San Jose?
Yes...weather is great there, but the city's a little drab.

> Do you know the way to Chickasha?
Is it me or John Holt a severe smoker?

> Which has been around longer? Gary England ... or dirt.
Gary England (Money talks when you've made a few million)
I'd stick around too. Although...I'm really starting to see
a lot of wrinkles on Local TV News these days.
Question is, How long will Bob Barry Senior be on TV?
Wow....big candidate for Plastic surgery..although it may be
too late for the big guy.

What happened to Dale Wehba?
He's still around. I think he's still spinning music at
a local club using a 1950's tube type amplifier and a stack
of scratched 45's on a pair of Harris turntables...I don't know.

> Was Charlie Tuna the best DJ ever to work in Oklahoma City?
> Or maybe Ronnie Kaye?
Charlie Tuna & Ronnie Kaye are definite icons of radio.

> Do you think the Sooners will have a winning season?
OSU & Texas will beat OU this year. Unless they
some how pull out of it and get it together. Next year
should be great.

> Is groovin' better than being HEAVY?
He Ain't heavy, He's my brother/Hollies 1970

I never knew Sooners to QUIT Steve :).

They may be quiet.

Maybe Oklahomans are lovers, not fighters.

Could I have my change please?

How old is Paul now?

108?

Got to admit though, the man sounds great for any age.

Guess it proves that working at what you love, keeps you young.

>> Not all, but some. As for KOKC....(fill in the blank)

Could you fill in THIS blank?

What does Garth do all day?

Trash can basketball?

I liked Santa Clara back in the '60s.

But then you could buy a house for what a car costs today.

Time marches on.

Who's is John Holt?

I heard Bob Sr. on the Sooners radio broadcast this weekend.

He was getting a little testy with his color man. Can't think of his name. Former assistant OU coach. Low key guy.

How long is Senior Bob going to keep doing the OU games?

Thought Boren was trying to retire him.

Think he started in 1962 or so before switching to OSU in the 1970s, then back to the Sooners.

Wow!

Viva La Wehba.

I think he owes me 50 cents for a Coke, but I don't hold grudges.

Dead even.

Both still smooth. Still great.

And you can tell they love radio too.

You cannot fake that.

Although they say the key to success in broadcasting is learning to fake sincerity.

How am I doing so far? :)

Answered like a politician up for reelection.

He ain't your brother.

Whether he's heavy or not ... is opinion :).

The sounds of silence

Not true.

KOKC is the MOST exciting station I have heard since walkie talkies were invented.

OK ... I turned off the radio.

But now, I'm still hearing voices ...

look out ...

I plead the fifth. :)

He's the guy who is General Manager for John Holt Chevrolet
in Chickasha. He sounds like his voice & lungs are eatin up
by years of cigarette smoking.

> I heard Bob Sr. on the Sooners radio broadcast this weekend.

Yes..the guy with the extreme Okie accent. I know who your talking about.

> > What happened to Dale Wehba?

Here's a story for you, Someone told me one time when he went to apply for a job at a radio station they asked for his aircheck. He said "Aircheck"?
"I don't need an aircheck, don't you know who I am"? Needless to say he
never got the job.
True story.
I still enjoy hearing those old aircheck of him from the past though.
He's was great back in the day.

Merv Johnson. Longtime assistant coach for the Sooners until just a few years ago, and now OU's director of football operations. Great guy, but as dry as a cracker in a 60's fallout shelter. If OU wants a great analyst in the booth, they need go no further than King Barry.

I've said it before....and I'll say it again...again...again and again.

Renda needs to chalk TalkRadio 1520 KOKC up as a loss...ditch the 21-and-a-half hours of daily syndicated programming...bring back KOMA-AM and simulcast FM as they did..

Say what you will, I think WKY is better than KOKC...at least they have live, local talk...damn near all day.

Your honor, this is not a court of law.

I respectfully ask the defendant to spell the beans :).

Okies have accents.

When did they start that stuff.

On WKY AND KOMA.

When vacuum tubes ruled.

OK ... bet on this.

OU whips OSU.

But OU now longer plays Texas.

It's Stoops v. Brown.

And Stoops wins ... again.

Unless Brown does :).

Take that to the bank.

The heaviness continues on the BIG W ... KY Radio.

KOKC - A 50,000 watt waste of an electric bill. Why bother?

Time to flush CheapTalk 1520 and try again.
