WLAB Sale?

From what I read, the sealed bids for WLAB/FT Wayne should have been opened by now. Was a bid accepted?

Hi Bob. I have not heard a thing. I'll let you know if I hear anything. A business associate of mine submitted a bid. It's a tricky business model, but there is an opportunity to servce a unique audience and profit potential does exist beyond the broadcasting arena.

Let me know if the bidding is still on.. I have a quality guy in Florida who has the money and the heart to keep CCM localized.. He missed out on Evansville by a hair.. Called to give his final bid and the station was just under an agreement to sell.. Guess who pulled it out from him (at a lower price than he would have paid by a few tens of thousands)??? EMF..... We have CCM now, but NO LOCAL interaction.... Already getting concerns from the Church community....

Hey Skip! You are exactly right. Especially with a specialized format like CCM. It has to be local and interactive with the community for it not only survive, but to be successful. It can be done, but it can't be looked upon as only a "business".

Again, my message to the new owner is simple: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It doesn't seem broken.

K-Love Lafayette could have been sold to a local company for the same price or perhaps a little more if the "asking price" wasn't so high. I suppose the locals can be blamed for not negotiating like the guys from California. One thing for sure, K-Love knows their mission and gets after it. Is there a city that they are not interested in putting a station in?

I would not be surprised to see them take any station that was on the market.

It's 100% official now. WLAB will stay Star 88.3 FM, a group of local folks (station employees) have won the bid to purchase the station pending FCC approval.

Amen....So be it....Let it be....Ollie-Ollie-Aux-On-Free! Rejoice! ;D

I hope and pray Star 88.3 keeps going for many more years to come. Recent ratings have shown they are really starting to make a difference for Fort Wayne.
