I mentioned this earlier and was told I was wrong...Now I am hearing it as pretty much confirmed. Beginning the first week of January, WLAC is going to have a live host named Kevin Wall out of Detriot. He is moving here...but is it on a trial basis..or permanent?
What does this mean for morning talk?

Are you sure he's from Detroit? I believe he's in Atlanta right now. If its the same guy, he was a sports talk host for years, and switched to general/political talk a few years ago. He has been working on his show for a while and I'm sure he's looking for a place to land. I spoke with him late summer early fall and ironically he casually mentioned that he'd been in Nashville recently.

He'd instantly be the best talker in town if he comes. After the adjustment period of learning the town some, he'd blow the doors off of anything else locally.

It would not take much for him to be better than Steve Gill or Mark Christopher. Valentine is without a doubt the best local talker, but due to his timeslot his listenership is limited. I look forward to listening to this new guy, esspecially if he is on morning drive.

Will he be given a chance? Dave Macy was pulled just when his numbers were going upward. The two incarnations of the "Morning News" also pulled decent numbers but were pulled. Jerry Minshall and Tandy Rice had strong ratings in AM drive but were yanked. Any host should be given time to prove himself.

Let's just hope the guy doesn't turn out to be another Mark Shannon or Debbie Ellis.

It means the listening public is finally going to realize what a horrible show Steve Gill has.
______________

you're kidding , right?
all self-promoting fluff...no substance (and that's a good day)
BTW...much cooler today...may not see 70 degrees for Christmas
(after hitting 87 yesterday). Just awful. Time for another mimosa
on the patio...and opening the gifts under the palm trees!
______________
but wait...there's more!

Well I guess it is a good thing Gill might be Governor!
I would only hope for our sake he never gets control of the FCC.

Steve Gill doesn't have a chance in hell of being Governor. You can end that talk right now. See, to win public office, people have to actually like you.
______________
