WLAC News Director

WLAC has been running an ad for a ND for a long time time. Since early spring?
Anyone know what's up? Have they hired anyone? What Kind of place is it to work for?
???

Tom Peace is a great guy to work for, I know this from personal experience. He's fair and easy to talk to. If your looking to apply, give it a shot. WLAC is a great station to work for.

I second that. I only worked for him a short time, but from what I knew of him, he is professional all the way.

Amen. Yes, Lord.

Tom is great to work with and if you're interested, go for it. Steve Sullivan, who left last year, did a great job as ND, so you'll have a tough act to follow but give it a shot!

I worked briefly as an overnight anchor on WLAC back in '01 when they moved the news department from Metro Center to the Clear Channel building on Music Row. Not a bad place to work at all. The other reporters in the hub were/are some good folks.

In addition to doing news on 'LAC, I had to record and upload top of the hour news breaks to WREC Memphis and do various production for the Tennessee Radio Network.

I took about a $10k pay cut from my previous job to work there. Bleah. That makes a difference, especially with cost of living and so forth.

It *was* kinda cool being on a heritage station that could be heard across several states at night ;D

I was the overnight news anchor there a couple of years ago. Worked with some first class people. If Dan Eidem officially has the title now, he's earned it, that's for sure. A great guy, been with the station for years.

When I was there it was a 10 person news department. C Channel's cut it down to only a couple now from what I hear, that's a shame.

Tom Peace is a class guy, definitely agree with that, and Sullivan and Bryan Barrett ran a good ship there. Pay was lousy, but I loved Nashville and enjoyed being a part of a good crew in that newsroom.

Heritage station or not, remember who owns them. Clear Channel does not think twice about cutting people during this time of the year.

If you want a stable job, this is not the company to work for.
Lots of heritage stations that CC does not own, if you must be on a "heritage" station.

Aren't most AM stations heritage to a degree since they are so far down the audio food chain now?

wlac probably way down from the roi back in the red-top baby chicks, randy wood records, reverand ike and other pi money they could get in before the sun came up. l and c did not care for employees too good either. there was lot of turning over in them days too. wlac fades in and out and that is kind of the way it has been from truman ward days. i guess poor old ed must be dead by now or he could be revived as news director, now there are some stories there to be told alright
