Citing the high cost of power and utilities Bob Perry has announced that yet another of the late Bob Bittner's Memory Stations is hitting 2 and lower. WJTO/Bath signed off for good on July 27th, and WLVP/Gorham has been silent since last fall due to technical issues. WLAM (licensed to Lewiston) and WLVP are still for sale. Here's his statement in full:
"Hi this is Bob Perry. We are sad to announce that on Thursday August 14th at 11:59PM ,WLAM AM 1470/FM 97.3 will be signing off for the Air. It was a very hard and emotional decision to make and wasn't made lightly. It is hard to keep a radio station on the air with the rising cost of power and utilities. We do want to thank all of you for you listener-ship, friendship and support over the years. It has meant a lot to us here at the Memory Stations. Once a final sale is made WLAM and WLVP AM 870/ FM105.1 will return to the air under new ownership.
We will not be disappearing completely. You can still hear Bob and the great music on Bob Bittners's Memory Station online, which we have no plan to end. You can find out how to listen on our Websites Bobsmemorystation.com and Facebook pages. With a smart phone, most regular car radios now will let you listen just as if you are listening to the radio. The Stream is also available on Alexa and Siri as well as directly off the Website!
On the behalf of Raisa, and all of us here at the Memory Stations, we thank you and hope you stay with us on the stream!"
