Can anyone tell if there is something wrong with WLAP? At first I thought it was because I was coming in from the western null, but as I got into Lexington it continued to sound awful compared to WLW, WHAS and WVLK. It sounds as if it's almost off frequency and you are hearing a side band.

Any ideas? Thoughts? Comments? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
 
WLAP has some pretty sharp nulls even in Fayette County. I know it is distorted on my car radio in places along Nicholasville Rd (sounds like an "out of phase" signal). It also cuts off sharply to the west and toward Richmond. Otherwise, I have not noticed anything unusual with it. What parts of town are you noticing the problems? Or, is it all over?

The night pattern is the same, but tucked in more with only a kilowatt.

I have noticed phasing distortion along Georgetown Rd to the North of town, not far from their transmitter/tower site. From the map above, you will also experience this distortion closer in to the TX site than what the map indicates.

All over. I was driving from Louisville to London. Passing through Lexington I punched up WLAP. It did not sound like I was going through nulls or anything. I just sounded horrible compared to other AM stations. Wasn't sure if it was my car radio cracking up or what.
 
If you were traveling along I-64 and I-75 from Louisville to London, you will hear lots of distortion on WLAP-630 as you go through various nulls and lobes of their signal on the North and East sides of Lexington. I frequently travel to Richmond, KY from Exit 104 south along I-75. On that route, you are right in one of their sharp nulls to the SE. Between Lexington and Georgetown, the signal gets "funky" in many spots along Georgetown Rd and even I-75 Northbound, but once you reach Georgetown, it is rock solid all the way to Dayton, OH along I-75.
