Alex Jones speaks to people..........huge hit in lake county. fuk music, same garbage is everywhere on fm ............be different. think different. That STANDING ROOM ONLY Alex Jones live show in Feb, is the clue. And forget Orlando, your not going to compete. so there is an ESPN in Ocala? who cares...........hot talk, engaging talk, sports or news, is the savior of AM radio. Let me punch over and hear Jim Croce, and i never go back..........give me something compelling, and i always punch back and spend time listening.

But you can't sell it. It's like putting psychics on the air, they light up phone lines but they don't generate any business.

In a small market where you're not selling ratings, you have to program to the advertisers. They will only buy it if they like it (or if they, or their customer base, are tin-foil hat-wearing conspiracy theorists).

While you think a live appearance that drew a crowd is a big deal, I think it is more of a big deal that he isn't even on in Orlando anymore, and isn't on any major stations anywhere.

We have had second and third tier talkers like Alex Jones on this station for years, and they have never generated anything. This stations demographic most definitely does not lend itself to his programming, and he would not be a "hit" at all here in lake. The station briefly aired "Free Talk Live", a syndicated show from the same syndicator Alex Jones uses. They classify themselves as middle of the road, yet they were run off the air by the listeners here . Remember what you said - "forget Orlando" - good call as the demo out here and the one in Orlando couldn't be more different.

Alex Jones is listed at #85 on the Top 100 talkers list for 2012, right behind local host Deave Elswick on KARN in Little Rock, and right before Leslie Marshall - whoever that is. It is also a good sign that he is well down the list when he is on all of the TanTalk stations.

Hilarious! And I totally agree.

If you must run music during certain dayparts, have you considered "Timeless Cool"? I'm sure the "warmed over classic hits" crowd will start throwing rotten fruit at me now... ::)

Way to go, DJ Mo. I took exactly the same route (but at age 40!) - starting at a very small station working for peanuts just because I loved it so much. Things progressed quickly from there, and I wouldn't trade anything for that experience and those memories.

Apologies. When I clicked on that facebook link there was a comment asking about slots available and a reply about block programing which led me to believe that airtime was being bought for this show. I'am glad that this is not the case.

Same call letters since at least the 1960's when I think they ran what was then called C&W.
Nighttime nulls are toward Atlanta and Miami.

They would end my listening to WFUN as my parents drove me north.

Are you doing this show live or are your drops recorded? Is this being done from the studios or are you putting this together on a laptop?

I ask because there's a lot of dead air at the end of songs. Gotta do something to tighten that up.

Also as a personal preference I don't like going from music cold into spots, I think that's a good time for you to read a promo or do the weather (Formatics 101)...

But good pipes, good energy, you sound like you're having fun. Keep it up.
