Party Line went to three hours January 1. There will be a live music show 4-6 PM weekdays starting this week. Stay tuned - we are peddling as fast as we can. Thanks for the input from everybody - it all helps.

sorry, my bad.....I meant to say move the auction show up a few hours, say at noon, and have a live morning music show from like 6a to 9a or 7a to 9a. jmo

Only issue is that Party Line has been in that time slot for decades. Playing with fire messing with that one - only thing to do was expand it.

"I'm quite sure those who are being overly critical were far from "perfect" when they first began their respective radio careers"

reply....one my worst day I was never as bad as "Dj Mo".

Suggestion for DJ MO ...drop that DJ and go with your own name...DJ MO sounds like a dj at a club...not a professional air talent on a station playing music fro 59's 60's.. that audience is way too old to relate to DJ MO..

Give them some time. And please Partimer, don't give advice of bringing that Pittsburgh style crap down here :). I'm finally somewhere that has some decent radio.

Let me get this right...we should "encourage, mentor, teach, help..." Is WBLE striving to be a quality, professional radio station or the personal teaching grounds for "Dj Mo"? His show is an embarrassment to the station and if that's fine with WLBE, then so be it. For the rest of us, the whole thing is a an extreme letdown.

Still no suggestions from Uncle Russie - just criticism. I would say your input helps but it doesn't as there is no input, just sour grapes.

No sour grapes intended, just legimate criticism. I heard something on the air that I thought was sub par, to say the least, and I said so. Just because I didn't offer a number of suggestions to improve the situation doesn't make my comments any less noteworthy. When someone writes a review of a movie, for example, the critic doesn't normally include suggestions on how to make the movie better. If it's good, he says so and if it's bad (in the reviewer's opinion), he says that too. I wouldn't call that sour grapes, just the writer's opinion. I stand by what I said. Others may disagree and thats fine. Nothing more to be said.

So in summary, you said you are better than DJ Mo on your worst day, and that he is an embarrassment to WLBE, and since WLBE is his "personal teaching ground" that we are unprofessional. Your comments are duly noted and your input is appreciated, even though it doesn't help much.

Thank you, Mr. Tillery, for the kind words.
And thank you everyone else for your input.
Not even a week & the show is already taking off. 8)
Thank you, O.K. Walters, for believing in me!
Lots Mo to come, so stay tuned...

I listened to the new show each day. I appreciate the effort but there is no subsitute for a live voice. I want to hear the time, temp, informational tidbits about the songs being played, etc. I showed up to listen, I want the host to be there for me. I want the dj to embrace the music being played and make me believe that they are excited to be there! Some live on air blunders can easily be forgiven(even expected!), but I don't want to waste my time listening to the same prerecorded clips robo-inserted between songs. If dj Mo isn't available between 2 and 4 then move his show to when he can be live. He has a lot of potential! I want him and WLBE to succeed.

He has a good voice and the energy/enthusiasm is there. Content can be worked on...but, that is something the PD/GM can coach/mentor him on and from what I have read here by MO and have heard listening to him on WLBE I believe he will grow. It is all about standing at the plate and swinging the bat...keep at it ;)

How about AM Stereo? I'd love to hear full stereo on my Maduci tuner in The Villages

With the lack of other AM Stereo receivers available, that's about as likely as WLBE going HD.

I've thought of the fact they may not be wired for stereo....

though its interesting to me that some AM stations are mono in anolog AM, but stereo on the web stream. two seprit boards? mix the mix to mono for the OTA stream but keep the web stream stereo ?

Guess time to update radio-locator listing for this station huh? would be nice if you could put talk/oldies as the format. the main format would be what. talk? I know WKXW is listed as talk, though they do 60's-80's Oldies on the weekends.
I'm listening to the web stream right now with dead air .

Ahhh, now that would be up to Mr. Walters, I would think.... :)

From what I have heard so far, it's possible that a majority of the tunes played are mono to begin with; would it be worth the change on the Web feed?

Second option is correct in our case. There was a live show on when you said the stream was dead - it is fine now so ???. May not stream the music for much longer due to royalties - want to see where the listeners are before we make a final decision.

OK, I hope you'll consider going stereo on 790! It sounds great & I've always thought of it as, if nothing else, saying to your listeners "even if you don't have a stereo radio, we care enough to put out the best & give you the best, because it's what you deserve!"
