WLCL is back....

Unbelievably, they're still running the loop of the great half hour of the Rush Hour Renegades program over a day later. Having listened to the whole program, I find it amusing how they go out of their way to put emphasis on words like LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY, and STONYBROOK... are they trying to make a point to the FCC that they're putting on some solid local programming? If so, you'd think they'd try to incorporate Sellersburg instead... you know, where the station is actually licensed.

I'm sitting here waiting in anticipation to find out whether they'd prefer to be with Kelly from Saved by the Bell or Topenga from Boy Meets World every hour, you never know when they might change their mind on the prerecorded loop. And will their top five movies change? No, but you could hope. Of course, I'm still trying to find their live online stream on "News Channel 31" that they keep plugging. So disappointed that it doesn't seem to be out there. Because 93.9 is Louisville's greatest new station....

Do you remember when there was a pirate station on 93.9 back in the late 90's? That was way more entertaining than the useless 30 minutes they keep repeating.
I remember when WJIE 88.5 started a translator on 93.9 so it was goodbye to the pirate station.

I vaguely remember the pirate station... was that the one that Tom Dorsey kept bringing attention to (back in the day when the local newspaper had this crazy thing called a TV/radio critic)?

Also, 93.9 is gone again. My whole afternoon is ruined now that I don't get to listen to the Rush Hour Renegades on my drive home.

That's the one.In fact I'm the one that first told Tom Dorsey about the station. From time to time I would call him and give him radio news.Back then about the only way to get news about radio was in his column in the C/J.Tom was laid off back in 2008.

I heard that 93.9 will be coming back soon, but it won't be as a music station. Maybe that's why they're testing with no stereo generator?

On again, off again... but yep, they're apparently broadcasting again today. I guess they were just taking the day off yesterday. The Rush Hour Renegades program isn't running now though. They're playing Viewpoints again, I think this is the same show that they played when they first reappeared on the air for a few days back in June.
