WLEZ-LP in Jackson signs off from 100.1 FM

Hey all -

WLEZ-LP signed off from 100.1 FM today and will no longer be heard on that frequency. No more studios at the old WJXN/NWN building either. The new frequency will be 98.1 FM, with a transmitter site co-located with WJSU 88.5 FM (on the Jackson State University Campus) and studios at the JSU E-Center. It appears as if you can enjoy a lovely Beatles CD playing in a continuous random loop until their full studio moves over to the new site.

They had to change frequencies because of the recent move of 100.5 WRTM. They had been operating under an STA for several months until the move - apparently last night. St. Pe' has an arrangement with JSU regarding broadcast / meterology from what I understand, so it made sense to move his operation to the E Center. The only thing that will be left at Foley St. is the satellite uplink.

The CD must have changed, because now it is a big band / swing music lineup. The new signal seemed comparable to the old one at my office in Flora, and at my house near Gluckstadt.

They were originally on 103.7, but had to move when WYAB switched over to 103.9. There were a number of times both stations would bleed into each other. Me personally, I didn't like WLEZ being on 103.7 because it blocked 103.7 from Hattiesburg (when they were good).

Maybe someone can answer this for me, but how is it that WLEZ had to move when 100.5 moved in? It's the same amount of distance from 99.7, but both 99.7 and 100.1 have been able to co-exist.
 
Why is the audio so low? You have to turn the radio all the way up to hear it. I like his unusual playlist, but I do think they could ease off on the show tunes. Broadway singers using a stage or actors voice always sounds funny when you can't see what they are doing. Actors use some strange ennunciations and inflections that don't always sound that great on records.
