WLFM-LP Smooth 87.7 FM Now Streaming Online

Smooth 87.7 FM, the low power smooth AC (with a little contemporary jazz thrown in) station, now has an online stream. Smartphones and iPad tablets have mobile apps as well.

Now, I've been known to be wrong before...but, unless I missed something, I thought the
FM band began at 88.1. I also thought that the "Franken FM's" (operating on the audio frequencies of TV channels 5 and 6 were no longer allowed.

If I'm wrong...I'm wrong, and my apologies. But is this station operating with a license? I'm not aware any "LP-FM" can be licensed on 88.7. Are they just online?

Franken-FM's are still allowed, for now. WLFM is still a low power TV station on channel 6. Low power TV stations are still allowed to broadcast in analog, but that's going to change in 2015.
