Lake Hartwell Radio-921 WLHR is off the air due to the collapse of it's 284 foot transmitting tower outside of Lavonia. More here: http://www.921wlhr.com/index.php
It was sabotage, apparently, according to the presser. I have a question: How in the name of Hannah's Housecoat do you cut a tensioned cable without it whip-sawing around and hurting somebody? Any unaccounted for body parts lying around the Lake Hartwell area these days?
Seriously, you do cut it then get out of the way. I have seen it done. Usually what happens is the guy wire falls into the tower and hangs from it. You are really only in danger if you are standing on the side opposite of the cut guy wire.
WLHR is back on the air today. I hear they went back on around 3:30pm. They're operating from temporary site until they can get their new tower built. Good to hear them back. I wish them the best.
