has air america struck a deal to remain on WLIB? any format flips likely in NYC radio in 2006?( new formats are being aired on HD-2-FM channels so the primary channels may stick with their current formats. even Jack and Wnew!)

There is no definitive word on the LMA for WLIB after the end of August. Even if Randy Michael's P1 takes over operation of WLIB, there is a good probability that the station will continue with a progressive talk format. Except for WLIB, all other stations taking AAR programming are independently operated. Most clear SOME AAR programs, along with local programs and programs from Jones Radio and other syndicators. Most likely, if another operator takes over WLIB, some AAR programming will remain. CBS' FM stations are not performing well. Look for changes - if not in format, then in mix and/or personnel.

WLIB is a snooze fest. Where I live I can get AAR on WLIB and on WAVZ. (WAVZ is the semi-local station, but I can get a better signal from WLIB, but that's becaue they have a much higher power than WAVZ). Bring back the Caribbean format to WLIB/1190!!!!!On the few times I've been in listening range of the NYC FM Stations I have to say JACK-FM is horrible. WNEW has it's moments, but I liked their former Classic Rock Format better. I thought WNEW was a better Classic Rock station that Q-104.3 I haven't heard FREE-FM yet. I haven't been in the listening area since FREE-FM signed on. I'll have to guess O&A are good. The last time I heard their show they were still on WNEW. I liked them back then. I'm an old fan from their WAAF/Boston days. WAAF used to put a killer signal into Connecticut.
