could we hear Liberal Talk on WLIB under new owner Emmis ?

Interesting. The calls are right for it, and (arguably) so is the corporate name. But how badly does the company need a tax shelter? Just sayin'.

Does "Unregistered" mean anyone can post here without registering, or is the OP a participant whose handle is, "Unregistered?" Just curious.

wadio: People can post without registering, however those messages sit in a moderation queue... and may not be posted, for any reason. Registered user's messages post immediately but may be moderated for not complying with the TOS.

Hope that helps!

Been there, done that...and it got lousy ratings and poor billings. All that would accomplish would be to create ill will with the African-American community that was served by that station since 1947.

The existing Black Gospel format or a return to the Caribbean format aired by WLIB in the 1980s would probably be the best thing for that station. AM radio has to find niches in the market and those are two niche formats that are not served by the big corporate stations. Some of the pirate stations are trying, albeit illegally, to fill those niches, but WLIB could do it with its killer signal and make money as well.

The name "Emmis" has nothing to do with liberalism or conservatism. It means "truth" in Hebrew and was carried over into Yiddish.

When WLIB began in 1942 the calls stood for the studio location, Liberty Savings Bank. Since it was during WWII, they're slogan was "The Voice of Liberty."
