Living in philly pa I was always amazed at how this station is loud and clear during the day more than 100 miles away with not too much power. I just checked out the xmtr site on google satellite, I was amazed to see two towers one a stand alone non painted and the other a guy wired painted one. Is this picture accurate, these two towers don't look like they can provide that kind of coverage.....just curious.

The height of the towers don't have a heckuva lot to do with the coverage as you are assuming.

WLIE is on 540, very very low on the dial obviously.

The lower on the dial you go, the less power you need to cover a bigger area, but the taller your tower needs to be.
The higher on the dial you go, the shorter the tower needs to be.. but the more pwoer you need

250 Watts on 540 WLIE is approximately the equivalent to 15,000 watts on WLIM 1580.

I once heard then 540 WLUX on a car radio north of hartford, Ct during the day.

Walker, WLIE aka The #1 Latino Station on the Island (according to promos I've heard on the station, nice claim considering they've only been on since 2/1) is 2500 watts, not 250. They were 250 watts several years ago. And when they were the 250 watt Nostalgic Staion I heard them in the car in Bristol, Connecticut. Now at 2500 watts they're loud and clear like a local in Southington, Connecticut (which is the next town South from Bristol).

I know their alot higher then 250... I was simply using that as an example and also as a point to when i heard them
