WLIM 1580 Flipped to Spanish

Beginning this past Saturday morning 12/10/05 at midnight, WLIM 1580 AM, Patchogue changed formats from Polskie Radio to a Spanish format, Radio Fortuna 1580. The other former simulcasted Polskie radio station, WRKL still carries the Polish format.

Any more info on this? ie where is the programming originating? etc. I live near WLIM and pass by it on my way home from work. It looks like someone lives there now. I always see the same 2 cars in the parking lot no matter what time of day it is.

WNYH 740 flip to Oldies...for now...

1580...I thought it didn't sound quite right this morning. I was thinking that the Polish was sounding rather Spanish. I figured... I don't really know what I figured. Not much to figure in the morning when you're barely awake.

740...I am a little suprised that no-one has made any mention of it here as it is quasi-old news by now. WNYH has dropped the Commercial free Hyms about mid week last week in favor of Oldies from the 50's and early 60's. Every 15 to 20 or 30 minutes or so they make an announcement that they are brokering their time. Buy your own informercial. Sign me up. The audio is overmodulated and the automation is lousy. I figured I would give it a while to mention it...see if anyone else wanted to mention it first...I guess no-one really cares...And why should we?

Nothing like pinching off the carrier! Jeeze, they had great audio when testing. I guess they were trying to figure out how to clip the daylights out of it. Seems they've got it!

Where are they located nowadays in terms of studio's? No, I am not interested in brokering at all, just wondered where they went after they left the big house on Route 110. Just curious.

I guess if you really wanted to know, you could call the # that they are announcing to find out. There shouldn't be any harm in simply asking. Perhaps maybe they will be looking to hire board-ops possibly?

I think the # was 1-866-457-4213

Let us know what you find out. LOL

When they were testing with hymns I heard them between 6:30-7:00 pm on Oct. 8, traveling up I-476 just outside Philly. They didn't drop power and were blowing Toronto's doors off with 20 kW. The audio quality then was what you'd expect of an AM "beautiful music" station....
