WLIP-1050

I would like to know if they will boost their power anytime soon, especially at night, so the signal can be hear clear after sunset.

During the day WLIP's signal is 250 watts.

Actually at night too.. WLIP is one of a very few AM stations in southeastern Wisconsin that run the same power & antenna pattern day & night. (in fact I think 1340 in Milwaukee and 1400 in Racine are the only others)

There is no application on file.

It'd be pretty tough. Daytime, they'd have to sneak it in between a 1060 in southwest Michigan, 1070 in Madison, and another 1050 station near Green Bay. At night, the Green Bay station and Madison are still factors - and so are Winnipeg, Toronto, and Sault Ste. Marie. (the latter station has been gone for years but I think it's still notified & must be protected) I'm sure it would require a directional antenna. I've not seen the site - are more towers possible?

1050's day signal is VERY GOOD for only 250 watts.

Upping the night power won't do much good.

1. They wouldn't be able to go much higher
2. You're still going to get mixture from other stations which is the main cause of the night signal being poor. You should hear how messy WRJN gets at night even in Kenosha with their 1,000 watts ND.
