WLIR - CABLEVISION Simulcast

Was wondeting if Jarod would ever consider persuing a simulcast deal with Cablevision. There would be many Long Islander's who would subscribe to digital cable to thet their LIR back.

Any thouhgts?

I can only imagine the regulatory headache (FCC) that would occur, plus the nightmare of the RIAA!

It's not that uncommon really. When I was in college, at least two of the local stations were simulcast on the local cable service. They were used as audio soundtracks to the bulletin-board community access stations.

Can't imagine there would be any FCC issues. I'm not sure what the music licensing rules are for digital cable, but I assume they'd be similar to the ones for webcasting, which WLIR already does.

It's not the same LIR as before. That one, unfortunately, is gone--sold for $60M+ pieces of silver.

If you want to hear the music that dared to be different, listen to the "Retroactive" Channel on Digital Cable (Channel 815 on LI Cablevision's IO service).
