WLIT afternoons

from All Access:

CLEAR CHANNEL AC WLIT/CHICAGO has obtained the afternoon drive services of sister AC WNIC/DETROIT afternoon host KEVIN O'NEILL. O'NEILL, who will be voicetracking the show from DETROIT, replaces afternoon host DAVE HILTON, who steps down to focus on his Production Dir. duties for the station.

"KEVIN has been atop the ratings in the DETROIT market for over 25 years at AC, Hot AC, and CHR stations. He’s a genuinely wonderful guy, and is honestly one of the hardest-working talents I’ve had the pleasure of working with in my career," said DARREN DAVIS, RVP/Programming for the CHICAGO TRADING ZONE and OM/PD for WLIT. "Radio is a true labor of love for KEVIN, and he will be a great addition to WLIT."

Remarking on DAVE HILTON, DAVIS noted, "DAVE has done a great job holding down the fort in PM drive for many years, and we’ll still hear him doing much of our vacation fill-in work and some weekend shifts."
______________

Dave's probably the biggest name on that station. But you should take him off the air because some guy you knew in Detroit did well there. If you voicetrack him into Chicago 25 years after he started in Detroit, I'm sure he'll do just as well there.

Makes perfect sense.

I don't think they took him off.. I think it was Dave's decision. Read the post and read Feder's column.

Dave is WLIT's Production Director. He made the decision to step down from afternoons to concentrate on his work.

Now, if I could find a job where I could make decisons over my bosses.........

Ya know how many people in the industry wish they could have the ability to make decisions cutting their work load, or so they can "focus" on other job duties by shedding others. WHY even have management then? (Sarcastic, but serious at the same time).

Look, all I am saying is, you can't believe the press releases, Feder, ALL Access etc. like you can't believe everything you read here. Radio owners, and management usually don't nor do they have to give the real reasons why thy are doing something. Perception is reality folks. That is the purpose of press releases.

I am not commenting either way on this issue, except, for whatever reason CC brass and LIT mgmt made these moves.

Personally........ nothing against Dave, but LIT is just trying to sound fresher and different since they have adjusted their playlist and 100.3 is adjusting themselves.
______________

Agreed, but it seems to me that at least they would've done something other than go to voice-tracking. Is it possible that Gehron fought voice-tracking while he was at CC and now that he's gone, they're going hogwild?

And is it me, or is there the feeling at Lite that they can do anything and not get hurt as long as they do the Christmas music franchise every fourth quarter?
