Don't know exactly when yesterday but they went Christmas. Kinda nice and heartwarming. Is it a little early, sure. I dont mind. ;D

WLIT Goes Holiday

Not sure how the presentation went on the air, but they went from Andy Gibb's "I Just Want To Be Your Everything" into Bobby Helms "Jingle Bell Rock"

The motive also seems fishy. Yes they did it for the ratings (read yesterday's Feder column in the Suntimes). And it's amazing how many stores are now either playing Christmas music and/or covered in Christmas decorations, right after Halloween It almost seems like many stores are in a contract with WLIT or something so they can all flip into "Christmas", right on cue!
Don't get me wrong, I love the Christmas season as much as the next person. But this earlier kick off into the holiday season each year just plays into the prevailing notion that Christmas has become nothing more than a marketing scheme, rather than the true religious meaning it was meant to be. And WLIT leads the way each year!
I like it when stations play a holiday song after four or five songs in their normal set. I hate it when they have all Christmas music i.e. "Santa Is Coming to Town" at 100 plays.

But WLIT serves a purpose for those, myself included (though preferrably after Thanksgiving! ;D ), for those who would like to here a set of Christmas music.

Who cares if people are ready for Christmas in October, as long as it continues to make money--it's not as if people will rebel this year, or even next. This year, like lemmings, they will flock to all Christmas all the time, thus increasing ad revenue, and that's all that really matters in radio. Only the most cynical person believes that Christmas in October is what people want.

Thousands of Chicagoans who are currently being subjected to "Dominic The Donkey" and Madonna's version of "Santa Baby" 10 times a day at work would disagree.
Better then being subjected to Justin Timberlake going eee eee eee ee eeeeeee every hour.
Well, yeah, but keep in mind that nobody is being forced to listen to this. Most offices have control over the radio.
