WLIT's Website Already Has the Holiday Theme!

All right. Anyone want to take bets as to when this station will flip to holiday music? They haven't had a real focused format since last year anyway. Might as well flip tomorrow! ::)

another side note .... this doesn't seem too unusal for them to do this. Seeing that they probably will switch November 1st. I also learned that a Holiday movie is coming out Nov. 3rd. Santa Claus 3 i belive.... i guess christmas is arriving early this year :D

WNIC's website has a Breast Cancer awareness theme, but I'm sure it'll go right to the holiday theme soon.

WLIT will probably flip November 1st, or at least the first week of November.

First week of November?? Granted, it has felt like Christmas outside the last three days in the Midwest, but that's overkill on the part of both WLIT and WNIC. Some office workers in Chicago and Detroit are gonna be homicidal by mid December.

Alrighty...no offense intended here.

But does anyone else completely hate Christmas music on the radio?

I am up for about 20-30 minutes worth of Christmas music a year.....Christmas is everywhere....leave my radio alone.

I always hated it as a PD. To me, Christmas tunes are standards...not current remakes....with that in mind, how the hell do you go from Train to Brenda Lee?

Am I just a bah humbug on this one?

Mabye its an error

Nah----there's a big ad that promotes All-Christmas music coming soon on The Lite, so they're just early... very early.

Agree, agree. There are not that many Christmas songs--just remakes of the same songs over and over. I understand I can change the channel, but almost two months of Christmas music? Why not just run it year round?

WLIT's Christmas music makes oodles and oodles of money for Clear Channel, if they could, they'd play Christmas music all year long

I'm NOT ready for Christmas yet! I'm still in the summer mood,
because today it is in the lower 60s.

WLIT is the most stupid and rediculast station ever!
Because they might as well play Christmas music in the month of July!

I did not see any Scary Ghosts yet, nor had my Thanksgiving turkey dinner neither!
So what is the big rush about this Christmas stuff?

I repeat: WLIT Christmas music makes oodles and oodles of money for Clear Channel. They don't care about your scary ghosts of Thanksgiving turkey--Christmas is berry berry good to them...

On the CHR/Rhthmic board I mentioned that hating hip hop was probably the #1 thing that radio geeks share in common. I take it back, actually complaining about stations going all-holiday too early and having no awareness of the huge ratings spike all-holiday stations get is the real number one thing radio geeks share in common.

One thing I noticed over the years is that when these stations have excellent Fall ratings periods, none of the people who were critical of the holiday music ever say "I was wrong" or "even though I don't like it personally, it sure does work".

Guilty as charged.

It sure does work, like it or not. The syrupier the better, it seems sometimes. Perhaps the most extreme case in recent memory is "The Christmas Shoes," which was made into a TV movie in 2002 (and is being released on DVD November 7th. I won't be ordering). But in that regard, my own (or lone) personal favorite is "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Vince Vance and the Valiants.

Hey! Perhaps maybe you're right! WLIT should have Christmas music all year round!
especially during the hot summer days for the ones who don't have A.C.

All you would have to do is put on the Chistmas music on WLIT and just think of cool thoughts while cooling off during the hot days of summer....

hmmm I LOVE Hip hop and Christmas music so maybe i'm not as big of a radio geek as i thought :D

I checked, and the Countdown to Christmas is on. However, they haven't started indicating how many days until Christmas.
The whole web site is decorated and they are ready for the countdown.
This is just too early.
I thought mid-Novemer was too early for all Christmas music. Couldn't we just wait unitl 2 week before Christmas so we don't overdose on Christmas cheer? Perhaps they could treat us to a couple of Christmas songs per hour in November, 4 songs in early December, and all Christmas 2 weeks before Christmas. What they did last year was too much of a good thing.

Geez Im Really Surprised!! Here in Atlanta Theres Another Lite Station 94.9 They Allways go out on Christmas Music Now Will this Station go All Christmas in The Begining of November??
