WLKR AAA - Good or bad?

Hadn't seen anyone comment about WLKR's format change. Curious on thoughts if 95.3 fm changing from AC(or whatever they were) to Triple A, was a good move. I myself don't believe so. From White Stripes to Indians Promo to Gomez to "To Your Health" then top of the hour news() seems like too much "jousting of the generations"(sorry Mitch Albom). The jocks sound like they're having fun with the whole "goth/ska" thing like a cross between 89X & WVNO, but it's like giving tattoos & body piercings to an AM station. When they got rid of their "light hits & oldies", they pretty much thumbed their noses at their old faithfuls(although they're not the only ones guilty of that around these parts lately). I say good move by 92.1 to jump their chess piece onto that equitable Oldies demo nonetheless & come to the 40 & up's rescue.

I like it. It's different from all the other cookie-cutter yawners. The new music is kind-of exciting...aside from The River in Winsor, who else in the entire region is playing new(er) rock-based artists?
I'd say the rock-based AAA format segues into their sports(Indians, for example) better than a soft a/c.
U2, DMB, Tom Petty or even Gomez and Guster before or after a Tribe game sounds better than Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Kenny Loggins, ect.
As far as the news goes...as a local station in a small market, regardless of format, you gotta do news, right? I think so.
No doubt 92.1's move to Oldies was a good idea...not sure if "The Wolf" fits...but it's fun music and fills the hole.

When will such an AAA station pop up in the Cleveland area? I like hearing what WLKR's done, even as the short-spacing between WFHM/95.5 makes it an adventure to pick it up with a basic attenna. Besides, WCPZ is essentally a CHR-leaning Hot AC station. Wanna bet that they go to CHR with the new owners?

There's one other note to the change. WLKR also dropped the Dial-Global feed, plugging in several new local jocks on an almost 24/7 basis. I don't know if the overnights are VT'ed; they likely are (night guy Martin Davis is on from 8p-5:30a?), but it sounds better that most.

The "To Your Health" thing, IIRC, is just a commentary/ad for Fisher-Titus Hospital, and that's been a staple on the station forever.

As for news, they now air more than WLEC! Plus, it's affiliated with WEOL's newsroom, so having the capacity to do actualites doesn't hurt. Now, I agree that the ABC newscasts and Paul Harvey (!) are out of place, but they's been an ABC affil for decades. Both should probably move over to WKFM/96.1, where the country format would mesh better with Paul, at least.
