They said on Wild that the new 94.1 signal can be picked up in Orlando. Thats what I heard while listening to the stream lastnight. But CBS Radio has 102 Jamz in Orlando.

Was in Orlando this morning....the reception on 94.1 was very very clear. In fact, much clearer than 93.3......I guess when you go that far, potential interfering stations (co-channel), or lack thereof become a big factor.....without checking, I assume by the sound of the signal over there, there isn't anything else for hundreds of miles on 94.1.....

So? Just because it can be picked up in Orlando doesn't mean they're going to market it to Orlando.

Is the city of license for 94.1 still Lakeland? It ws originally owned by the Root family from Daytona, who also had 94.5 (now Star 94.5 in Orlando).

A friend of mine was the PD of 94.5 when it was a Daytona-only station, and he helped evolve it out of essentially being Easy Listening into a more mainstream AC. At one point he suggested simulcasting on 94.5 and 94.1, and just calling it "Love 94." The owners' response was "Can you do that?"

I can pick up 94.1 from Orlando to Fort Myers pretty well when I make the drive to & from there. As for 98.7, there's interference from WMMO 98.9 in Orlando & a crappy sounding religious station on 98.5 in Southwest Florida running on mono.

Sad to see Smooth Jazz being moved to a frequency I can't pick up anymore, but excited I get to hear more crazy Tampa flavored Hiphop at the same time.

That would be the former "Dream 98.5" which was, ironically, smooth jazz, and owned by Clear Channel until they sold it off to the next owners, who turned it into a 24/7 AP News Radio feed, and likely turned off the stereo with that switch, I'm guessing.

I think I went to grade school with some of the Root family. They had a HUGE home on the beach in Ormond Beach and we would roller skate in their guest house. It was THAT big. Is that the same Root family? I think they were part of the Coca-Cola family.

Speaking of Lakeland, Wild's audience in Lakeland will pick up just from the move. You can hear Wild in southern parts like Kathleen along the I-4 stretch, but the closer you get to Auburndale--the station is taken over by the 98.7 religious translator there. Now they'll pick that segment up, along with the rest of Polk north and up into Kissimmee and Orlando easily.

And I'm sure the bible people would be excited to know they're not fighting against what they don't like ... so directly anymore. Or something along those lines.

yeah. 98.7 does not do vary well in brandon. esp in buildings. another note, 94.1 comes in ok here in altamonte as well. that 94.1 has a huge signal. kinda ot heer but i really think cox should stick 97 x on 101.5 . may help that station a bit.

The existing format on WLLD is in line with CBS's "Amp" and "Now" experiments. Better to highlight it on the better stick, and attempt to make a bigger dent on WFLZ and WBTP

Sorry to say, WSJT's programming has seen it's day. CBS's other big format experiments include spoken word programming on FM. Expect the format currently heard on 1010 AM to be moved or at least simulcasted on 94.1 FM.

With an FM signal carrying sports, maybe CBS can dream of competing with WDAE. I'm sorry, but 1010 AM has as much power and reach those airport and shopping mall parking info broadcasts. While 94.1 FM doesn't have the reach 98.7 FM does, it's better than 1010 AM. With a bigger signal for sports, CBS can get their hopes up of one-day wrestling the Bucs back from Clear Channel... and in turn, wrestling back the associated revenue.

So you expect WLLD to fail at 94.1 and be replaced with sports? You also said 98.7 has a better coverage than 94.1. Does that mean you think CBS will move WLLD back to 98.7 and sports to 94.1?

The present situation of 99.3 HD-3 being a simulcast of 1010 Sports may be a test for that.

This is assuming you are bringing in talent to replace whats on 1010 right now....because whats on 1010 has'nt drawn flies to this point.

NewsStud doesn't know what he/she is saying. Got the call letters and dial position all wrong. HELLO ... can't you see that 94.1 is much BIGGER SIGNAL. You are saying all the opposite.

NewsStud apologizes and in the words of Willy Wonka (Wilder, not Depp)... "Scratch that, Reverse it!"

And to clarify:

94.1 WLLD will thrive!

98.7 WSJT will turn to sports!

There. Now you know.
