WLNE & 2007 Jerry Lewis Telethon

I was watching a bit of The Jerry Lewis Telethon on Labor Day. And everyone involved at WLNE did a great job.
However, why wasn't the local portion held at The Warwick Mall? As it has been in previous years? I know
WLNE News has always been behind WPRI & WJAR in ratings. But moving it from The Mall to the hotel
across street. Gave it a cramped & low budget feel. If your doing something local & want residents to give money.
Provide them with a venue where they can have easy access to giving ( money in fishbowl, bingo, haircuts etc).
All this can & has been done at previous telethons at The Warwick Mall. But not this year.... Why not this year WLNE?????

It may have to do more with The Warwick Mall than WLNE. I am assuming that the mall donated the space in past years. Perhaps mall management was no longer willing to donate space??? ???

If Warwick Mall wasn't gonna donate its building for an established charity like they did in years past. Channel 6 should of tried Rhode Island Mall next door. It could of used the publicity. Its a ghost town over there at RI's oldest mall for far too many years. Built in 1967. It has seen better days.

I used to work at The Rhode Island Mall in 1987 during some of it's best days. That mall was a thriving metropolis. 20 years later it has less people in it during the average day than my house has. It's so so sad. With the right management I am sure that place could be great again. Unfortunately the owners just don't seem to care about it anymore. What a waste of space.

Sadly, with all the department stores merging, there just aren't the opportunities as in the past. Even some of the premier malls in the country have empty anchor stores these days.

Say, I wonder if 10 or 12 or even 64 was carrying the telethon, Warwick would pony up that mall space no problem.
