WLNE ABC 6 Providence gets a new News Set

The weather guy at Noon today was outside. He said they are revamping the news set and that he can't work in that mess..lol. Then they showed the mess. I have a television with a Freeze picture option. So I froze the mess. As I look at it right now..... it definitely looks messy. Not even close to being done. It does look like that could possibly be a new newsdesk that I'm looking at though. It's hard to tell. There is canvas all over everything. But the desk looks like it has an empty space in front where they will probably put a monitor. The new set is supposed to debut next week. Hopefully this means a whole new music package as well.
 
Since Global Broadcasting took over this station their newscasts are definitely better, with a new news set, better graphics, and more live reporting. It appears they will really try to be competitive with channels 10 and 12. The station has already lengthened their morning news to two hours from 5-7 AM, and I would not be surprized if they expand their 6PM newscast to start earlier soon, too.
 
I think they are moving in the right direction. The new set is nothing ground breaking though. More colorful and a few new monitors. But they didn't do anything to drastic. They didn't even change any music. So I'm a little disappointed. But to their credit it does look a little nicer. So I guess a little is better than nothing at all. They've done the same thing to the website which looks a bit nicer as well. Things are slowly getting better at ABC 6. Now change the damn music package! lol
