WLNE Launches Digital Subchannel "ABC 6.2"

I saw this in a promo today for a political debate, which said that it would be airing "at 8 PM on Newschannel 5, ABC 6.2, and ABC6.com."

So, I rescanned for channels, and found 6.2. Right now it seems to be simulcasting WLNE 6.1.

I wonder what WLNE will use this channel for...

Here are a few options that I could think of:
-Alternate programming (ex. syndicated programs, infomercials, local programs)
-New newscasts (Morning, 5 PM, Primetime?)
-Simulcast of NewsChannel 5
-Affiliation with ThisTV, .2 Network, or America One

It's owned by Channel 6. it might have some partial ownership by COX.

As far as the cost for 6.2, they all ready had the equipment in place (they used to have a 6.2), so youre talking the power cost to run the second encoder, which is about 3-4 amps. It's negligible overall.

6.2 ?

They can't even afford to operate 6.1 !!!

No Blank! Maybe they are setting them selves up to be more appealling to sell having two stations.
A couple of weeks ago the conversation was WLNE possibly(not likely) going dark and now a subchannel.

Talk about going from one extreme to another.

I think they are at the point where they are saying
"Well screw it now. Let's go for broke and see what happens".

I'm pretty sure I know what's going to happen. It has more to do with the broke part.

What are the chances that Global could somehow re-emerge from this bankruptcy, while still retaining control of Channel 6?

Bankruptcy these days doesn't seem to be quite the kiss of death it used to be......

Just ask General Motors and Chrysler. ;)

They're probably going to lease it to foriegn language or run informercials 24/7.

I've actually enjoyed watching 6.2 because I can stretch ABC 6 news to full screen on my HDTV. I can't do that on 6.1
