WLNE steals story ideas from WPRI

Here's the scenario:

Last week, WPRI's Pete Lucas did a feature story on two University of Rhode Island basketball players that are from Cameroon. WPRI's story also included a Portsmouth Abbey basketball player that is also from Cameroon, who grew up with one of the URI players. This story was aired on the Fox 64 Sports Wrap show.

Last night, WLNE's Don Coyne did the SAME story (however, didn't do the angle with the Portsmouth Abbey student).

Why can't WLNE come up with their own feature stories to fill time on a Sunday night sports program? Is Don Coyne that lazy? Give me a break. It's bad enough for WLNE that nobody is watching them, but do they have to resort to stealing story ideas from Channel 12?

On the other hand, you won't see Channel 10 doing feature stories like this anyway. That place could put bars and tone up and people would still watch.

When it comes to covering local sports (high school, college, pro), WPRI consistently whips Channels 6 and 10 every night. Both stations should come up with their own ideas to gain viewers instead of copying Channel 12.

This has nothing to do with February sweeps. WLNE has pulled this crap before. Just because it's sweeps month, that doesn't give them an excuse for doing the same story that WPRI did. I saw both features, and by far, WPRI's was much better anyway.

Ordinary news sweeps stories are heavily promoted by the stations. Stories such as Dangers on Myspace, Child Predators, Sex Offenders, and other such garbage they have done 10,000 times before. Sports reporters and anchors don't do sweeps stories too often.

Biscuits,

You actually watched WLNE?

Just kidding. I lived have some family who live in Tauton and Woonsocket(they aren't French Canadian) everytime I watch WLNE they seem like a joke its a no wonder no one is buying them or watching 'em for the that matter...

When your last place, people always get DESPERATE, I assume its what happened here.

Wait a minute..........

WLNE's news is still around? ???

Last thing I saw from them was the dog getting rescued from the well. :D
