WLNK-107.9 Technical Issues

Was WLNK at reduced power this Saturday? There was no analog audio this morning on 107.9 but the HD signal was up and running. Very strange. But by afternoon both the analog and HD signals were back. Perhaps they were having technical issues or making upgrades. And as far as I know, they still transmit from the WBTV tower in Gaston County. Just curious if they are running at reduced power or back to normal full power.

Tuesday afternoon still apparent signal issues with 107.9, in the fringe. Spartanburg County. On my table radio the HD is not locking on, and the analog signal strength is up and down. The other HD signals from 95.1, 96.1, 101.9, and 102.9 are locking on strong from a similar transmitting area. I think there may be some technical issue with WLNK or they may be at reduced power.

I just spoke with the phone screener at WBT and he confirmed that the HD signal for WLNK is malfunctioning and they are working to restore the 107.9 signal to full power. The engineer is working on it now.

Or maybe - and this is the conspiracy theorist in me - maybe they were doing some tests on 107.9 in preparation for the flip to WBT.

Doubtful, after all it's just the flip of a switch or patch cable (if those are used anymore).

The device they use to get audio into the main transmitter failed.

Back in the day WBT was hard patched to the 1110 STL but the 99.3 feed was on the ITC router so they could run Gerry Vaillancourt in the afternoon.

I am pretty sure the ITC switcher is still there. They put in a SAS 32KD at one point. It may still be going too. The new studios they put in when they moved the R1 stations in are all Wheatnet.
