WLNK-FM OM Dies From COVID-19

I was sad to hear this. I didn’t know him well and never met him in person, but, around 2003, I responded to a blind box ad that turned out to be for Citadel, and I ended up talking to Darren Arriens about an opportunity in another market. Ultimately, Citadel went in a different direction with the property in question, but it shunted the previous format to a lesser signal. I was told to keep in touch as they might be interested in me for that property a little later. Shortly afterward, I followed up and was told Citadel was swapping those properties and that there wouldn’t be a job for me. During a time when PD's were routinely ignoring people, I found Darren pleasant to deal with, disappointment aside, and I really got the impression he felt badly about telling me there wouldn’t be a position for me.
