WLNY TV10/55

I happened to noticed last week that WLNY changed their 11pm newscast name to "TV10/55 News" instead of "News 55 at 11". They also got an updated set and some new graphics.

Yes they did. The mentioned it the Friday before the change.
The 10 in their branding refers to their cable placement on several systems.

And the WLNY(TV) license seems to have already been returned to make way for the Qualcomm license to take over. Ch 55 is off the air, right?

Yes and no -- yes, the analog signal on channel 55 is off the air, but the digital signal on channel 57 is still operating, under the same WLNY license. WLNY is also seen on four low-powered repeaters in NY, NJ and CT, according to Wikipedia.

Their repeaters, assuming they are working, are in odd places like Morristown, NJ and New Haven, CT. They don't even have a repeater for NYC!

The Morristown LPTV is there for one reason only. Cable coverage. I lived about 5 miles east southeast of the transmitter and got zero off the air. It did force the local cable company to put them on though. Unfortunately most of the good programming (at least 10 years ago) had to be deleted due to exclusivity contracts.
