WLNZ Lansing To Cease Operations

https://radioinsight.com/headlines/189225/wlnz-lansing-to-cease-operations/

Budget cuts is a factor in the decision to close WLNZ-FM

Lansing Community College’s “LCC Radio” 89.7 WLNZ Lansing MI will cease operations at the end of the month.

WLNZ has been operating with just automation since the school’s campus was closed in mid-March. Station Manager Daedalian Lowry told WKAR that the station lost all of its funding from the college and the paid staff will be furloughed. Most of the station’s programming came from students and around 30 local volunteers.

WLNZ has changed to a satellite of the University of Michigan's NPR network.

The signal of Michigan Radio flagship station WUOM in Ann Arbor has B-grade coverage in Lansing. But based on my experience listening to stations on the "edge of red" on Radio Locator maps, WLNZ should be easier picked up in indoor areas including the state capitol building.
