WLOH 1320 AM is down

WLOH-AM 1320 has been off the air for over 24 hours. No trace of them here in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. Their outage may be due to power outages in the Lancaster area.

Also, WFIN-AM 1330 in Findlay was knocked off the air. Click here for more info: http://www.wfin.com/

Also, From the Toledo Blade:

Findlay radio station WFIN, whose transmitter tower was blown down by high winds on Tuesday, returned to the air at about 11:30 a.m. yesterday using a long-wire antenna as a temporary fix.

Bohach reads this board...I'm sure he'll give us the scoop as soon as he fixes the problem...and if anyone can fix it, he can.

Mark Bohach just now sent me this email explaining why WLOH-AM was off the air. This is what he has to say:

We are back at full power as of Thursday 2-15 at 3PM.

Our tower iced up and shorted out our unipole antenna system early Thursday Morning (overnight).

Then a tree came down and took out our power feeder.

While AEP fixed the power, I cracked enough ice off the antenna system to get back on.

Good news is there was no real damage to the transmitting equipment. We did have a power supply overload that shut down the transmitter but I was able to clear that. Could have been a lot worse.

PS- our streaming audio was on the entire time. We maintained local news and weather coverage throughout the outage and many local listeners never missed a beat!
