WLOH Lancaster

Doesn't seem like there's too much action on this board these days....but something BIG happened today at WLOH/Lancaster & Logan. They dropped their news/talk format in favor of country on 1320am, and its sister translators 99.3fm and 104.5fm. You can also listen live online on their website at WLOH.net. They play a good mix of today's hits and yesterdays favorites. The signals combined cover Hocking County to virtually Columbus! The Hocking Valley hasn't had a true, live and local country station, since K-95 WHOK deserted Lancaster a number of years ago. They'll still continue to cover high school, college and pro sports, along with the daily features the talk format ran. Best of luck to Mark and the LOH crew!

Rafferdy
aka Ryan Alexander in my previous WLOH days.

K95 / K107.1 covers Lancaster perfectly fine... not sure I'd consider it "deserting" Lancaster...

They don't give 2 craps about Lancaster. And they're not locally owned. That's all I was pointing out! :)

I hope the move works out for WLOH, but I am not a fan. It was my only option to listen to Dave Ramsey, at least on a terrestrial basis, because WHIZ from Zanesville gets clobbered by 1230 once you get too close to Columbus (I live in Pickerington and WLOH has a fine daytime signal where I am). Obviously I can look for a station to stream for when I'm driving, but WLOH was a solid semi-local option.
I am glad their local sports commitment will continue, and liked the fact that they had other local talk despite the fact I didn't listen to those shows much outside Jack Greathouse, who I know personally from when I worked in Lancaster several years ago.

This move is perfect for Mark and gang. WLOH already serves Lancaster, Fairfield and Hocking counties and now with the country format they can go after the country audience which my understanding has always been big in that area. All the best to Mark who actually cares about programming radio to serve the community.
