WLOO-DT expresses interest in being the new CW affiliate for Jackson

The interesting thing is to see how they have that CBS/CW configured.

9.1 CBS 1080i HD
9.2 CW 720P HD

Based on this information, I would say we have fair odds at getting 720P. Let us only hope so!

I wonder how the PQ would look like on both channels. Can't be that good with cramming two HD channels.

I can kind of see how Media General swayed The CW's decision based on their relationship with WNCT.

I think that WJTV got first dibs on the CW network since they are the CBS affiliate. Since CBS owns a part of the CW network, they preferred Channel 12 over any of the other stations in the market. This must have been the reward for many years of service as a CBS affiliate.

I don't think so. WJTV is owned by Media General. I'm sure they got it because they offered the most money.

Had they been a CBS O&O, I could believe that.

My local ABC affiliate (WGGB) has both subchannels in 720p HD (the subchannel is Fox), and it looks fine. Still, I would imagine one 1080i and one 720p could be more troublesome.

Also, the daytime CW portions will be added according to an email.
Starting in late September we will air The Bill Cunningham Show as was the Vortexx Saturday morning lineup.

Actually, WJTV is saying that the addition of CW will occur around the end of this month. So far, I haven't seen CW programming yet, but my signal strength has dropped to the 55-60 range, so I can't watch the OTA picture right now. I wonder if they reduced power to perform maintenance.

Thanks for the update. Did you ever hear back from your contact at WLOO to see what they had to say about the situation?

Thanks for providing the link. It looks like it's just down to WTJV getting the equipment installed and the cable/satellite/uverse vendors adding CW.

I see that the CW network link is displayed on WJTV.com.

Also, I shot an email to Directv. They were not contacted that CW was going to be on the air on WJTV's subchannel 2. So since they were not contacted they said everything will stay the same for the time being.

Add to the woes of WJTV and Dish Network trying to get an agreement to continue to be carried on Dish Network. So they have a lot going on.

I figure that when Dish Network and Media General come to an agreement, 12.2 will be added, replacing 34 in the Dish Network locals. Hopefully, Dish Network will carry it in 720p.

Because of the dispute, I added back Superstation WPIX CW New York. I did it before Dish stopped offering superstations on September 19th. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get a strong enough OTA signal to maintain a lock, probably due in part to having my antenna in the attic.
