WLOQ Morning Show

Her WLOQ bio says she was a military brat originally born in France, later moving to Texas, so she's probably used to moving around.

There has to be more to her leaving WLOQ than her having moved around a lot as a child. Reason being, she's been part of Central Florida for a period of time. Prior to working at WLOQ, she was at Local 6 as a producer and did VO work. She didn't stay one year with WLOQ. What happened?

Yes they do. You never heard of Good Morning Orlando? Obviously Marc is there, but no one knows what happend to Eileen.

I wish Eileen would be the one staying and Marc be the one leaving. He has an awful sound...irritating voice in my opinion and just plain annoying on-air. I think she would have sounded great solo. I got XM because of how that station has deterioated in the last year and now never listen to them in mornings...if at all.

Sad thing Patricia was never placed in that Morning slot. She would be superior solo....so much better than Taylor. Sadly, it seems WLOQ feels the need to cookie cutter a morning show and have the mind set a SJ station needs a combo show. Maybe they would do better throwing out the joke book and looking at a Morning Edition/NPR information presentation/style with the music being the star. It is insane...their (WLOQ's) overnight show Monday-Friday is better than their Morning Show in my opinion...Joe Francis...is informed, entertaining and most of all doesn't come across like he is yelling. If I am still in the mood for SJ I flip over to XM once Taylor starts.

But, back to the start of this post. Why is Eileen leaving? I wish her the best in whatever she is going to.

"Joe Francis...is informed, entertaining and most of all doesn't come across like he is yelling."

Joe's a class act. Over twenty years in that time slot, and at least that many years of radio and TV before that.

He did mornings on WLOQ at one time.

I agree with everyone about Joe! If you live in Orlando and have never listened to him...check him out 12:00a-5:30a....he's live...no Voice-Tracking. If memory serves me correctly, I believe Joe was one of the first brought on at WLOQ when Herb Gross bought the station...he was Operations Manger/Program Director there in the beginning...as well as Morning Host. I believe he was News Director at 540 before that. Unfortunately the Central Florida Radio site does not have his bio...he's been part of Orlando Radio for at least 30 years! Joe has plenty of great stories to share...if you ever talk to him...ask him about the sofa at one of the first radio stations he worked at ;)

Not to mention television. Remember "Dialing For Dollars"?

During one stint as WLOQ Program Director, he hired me to do overnights. Three and a half years later - in 1985 - he took the airshift himself to try to undo the damage.

One lousy mistake, and he pays for more than twenty years. It hardly seems fair.

I found the below information on All Access:

Robyn Austin Returns To WLOQ
GROSS COMMUNICATIONS Smooth Jazz WLOQ/ORLANDO welcomes back ROBYN AUSTIN, this time as morning show co-host, effective MONDAY (10/16). She will replace EILEEN FOSTER, who is moving with her family to NORTH CAROLINA. AUSTIN was most recently VP/Customer Support at AUTOMATED RECOVERY SOLUTIONS and previously spent three years with WLOQ as nighttimer.

Interesting news Darren, thanks for the information. I'll have to give the WLOQ morning show a listen Monday!

Robyn sounds great...like she always has. But...Marc needs to be replaced...his abrasive sound does not jell with her smoothness and classy sound. Hopefully they will remove him after this ratings period...I hope so, for I won't listen to the station in mornings unless they do. Perhaps Dave Mills would sound great with Robyn.

Things must have been worked out with Robyn and the owner (revealing he now has a diminished role/influence with the station.) My understanding she left the place because of the owner (Herb Gross)...it was so bad she took a job as a hostess at a hotel/restaurant. Sad thing, she was up for a gig on Jones satellite...but that did not pan out. She's very good...great voice talent too.
