I wonder if BM was demoted. I went to the WLOQ website (not as friendly of a site as it once was. Now, very cookie cutter...de-emphasizing the morning show and personalities...which should be no surprise since WLOQ is using the cookie cutter matrix of Mediaspan) and found long time staff member Dave Mills no longer mentioned!!! Below I included the links to the two locations on the WLOQ site where staff is mentioned. I don't listen to WLOQ anymore (gave up on them years ago)...although I dialed in for a few minutes earlier this week and think I heard BM in Dave Mills old 2p-7p slot. What happened to Dave and Brian Morgan?

Dave Mills got blown out, sad because he was the only person there that had any personality or edge. The rest are pleasant enough but pleasant gets old fast. According to Radio and Records website B. Morgan wanted to be on-air and was going to turn over the PD reins and focus on his airshift as soon as they found a PD. Morgan sounds very pleasant, which isn't always a bad thing. at least he doesn't force his voice low like some SJ personalities, but Dave was definitely a lot more entertaining.

There are a lot of experienced SJ PDs who are out of work due to stations affiliating with the Smooth Jazz Network and blowing out most of their staff. (Even Love 94 blew out their AM drive jock to pick up the network's AM show) So the talent is out there.

Sad that Dave was canned! If memory serves me correctly...he was at WLOQ for over ten years. I agree...he had edge...one of the best natural warm and fuzzy sounds I have heard. Hopefully he will land on his feet soon. Morgan sounds smooth...and I think it is unfortunate that the station didn't let Taylor go (from the mornings)...moved Mills into that spot or have Morgan in that spot with Robyn or have her fly solo. In my opinion...Mills sounds a million times better than Taylor...I think the wrong guy got canned!

They have a really stable staff. It's doubtful that they will change anyone else. The AM, midday and evening hosts have been there for a long time. LaVoie will be a good fit for them.

Being there for a long time means nothing. Look at Dave Mills...he was there for 10 plus years.

Dave was a creative, smart and very individualistic guy...not a good thing as far as radio is concerned these days. The rest of their jocks are very bland and overly plesant. If that is their overall approach maybe he just didn't fit it any longer.

I think the company will use the addition of the new PD as an excuse to make further changes. Q will most likely use the Scott Studios system to the maximum...ie. eliminate live shifts where they can and voice track and or bring in BA or Jones (alIthough that eats up inventory avails...and Q loves to run long stop sets...so the bird might not be a daytime option). It is no secret that the owner (Herbie) protected the overnights from being automated and now that Herbie is not calling the shots (quite obvious with the return of Robyn who had left Q originally because of him and by Dave being cut who was a personal hire and pet of Herbie's) there will be little resistance to that cost cutting mentality.

Sadly, first to go I believe will be the overnighter Joe Francis (hopefully he can retire with dignity...he has been there close to 30 years). Next the weekend shifts and the weeknight person. Finally...even though he sounds smooth...Morgan will be let go. A new PD will not want the former PD in the building stinking things up.

Outside of The Groove and KIFM I cant think of a more unlikely candidate to become a BA Client or go with Jones..Then again I would have said that about the Jacksonville station the way their GM ranted about BA a few years ago and they drank the Kool Aid big time.
