WLOW

So has anything changed at WLOW yet? If they're playing as many 'oldies' as they were when I heard them last year, they have to be overlapping with Oldies 98.3 (given that it's musically like it was before the flip in 2005). Any ideas what should/will happen? I hope Triad has more sense than to let WLOW and WGCO have very similar playlists. I can see them going back to Standards...is there really anywhere else to go? Maybe traditional AC.

What do you all think?

We've been discussing that very topic in the various other threads about Oldies 98.3. I think that resurrecting the AAA format on WLOW as WWVV-FM, Wave 107.9, would be wise, as on that signal, the format would have a much larger reach. But that's IF Triad promoted it like crazy. I've run into countless people that really loved that station, and this is in Savannah.

Other than that, I really don't know. Modern AC would be fighting for the same audience that 97.3 KISS FM dominates and Z102...well...exists for. What else is there?

You're very accurate in your assessment of the WLOW/WGCO overlap. We've been using the phrase "eat each other alive". I sincerely hope someone on Mall Boulevard/1 Saint Augustine Place realizes that both stations are playing alot of the same stuff and that WLOW needs to flip ASAP.

I believe Coast will probably stay on the track it's on, because it's being played. However I think they will concentrate on the more A/C, less Oldies staples.

As much as I would love to see it I don't think Triple A is an option. One thing they could do is stay more 70's A/C with a spattering of standards to pacify the older audience.

Time will tell

:)

Could be. I used to listen to a station that was like WLOW for about a month. We all complained and got our standards back.

On the standards board I was describing the morning and afternoon shows on my standards station and got a repsonse that it sounds like a standards version of Jack. I guess that's what my standards station was doing back in 1997. And my first email ever had "vchimpanzee" on the subject line (that was a typo, and that's where I got this name) because I wasn't actually complaining in the email. I did that my phone and snail mail. In the email I congratulated them on having such a talented music director and recommended he appear on Letterman or Leno.
