WLQT 94.5 Changes

Looks like they are going to a newer AC approach and swaying away from the softer and older approach. Remember, before they moved to 94.5, they had this approach on 99.9. I like the newer AC approach over what they had been playing recently.

I think they wanted to get away from that old sounding format with the surprising success of Big 1065. However, if you look at their playlist, it's still quite old for AC today especially compared to Sunny 95 in Columbus.

True, if Big 106.5 is doing well, they should let it run its course. Yes, it is still older sounding than a station that is more "to the charts" :

like WSNY out of Columbus. Personally, I'd like to hear a newer sounding AC station in Dayton as well, but I think they are trying to keep the older demo listening. I don't know a whole lot of people my age who listen to WLQT, it's a station that lots of the city's office buildings and businesses have on (as well as Mix 107.7).

Interesting topic...and yes the music sounds MUCH better!

Dear head honchos at CC Dayton:
Keep Kim Faris on the air...she makes this station sound great!...as they always say: "if it works,don't fix it."

I disagree. It sounds like every other hot ac that every small town radio station has. How many damn times do I need to hear Pink or Daughtry. Cmon. Differentiate yourself. I hope to hell this format drowns. It so f'in cookie cutter. The same old songs played like powers in a top 40. It sucks. It's not Lite. Bring back the songs that never get played. Mix it up. It's a effin oldies station. Play all the lite hits. ALL OF THEM. And get rid of the PINK and Perry and aguliera, et al. Please stop playing stevie nicks over and over, not just that, the same stevie nicks song. PC is Boring. Dayton radio is nearing bordom. No wonder more and more people are going to Pandora.

First off, Lite is AC not Hot AC. The powers are treated much different because songs don't hit AC/Hot AC as fast as they do CHR. They are trying to get a good balance with Big 106.5 doing well. I still think Lite is too old-sounding for me, but it's definitely not Premium Choice. Mix in Lima runs PC. Look at the playlist. Different. Now Mix 1077 would be the station to repeat like a CHR. Hot AC is more aggressive.

Sorry, disagree buddy. We get it. You want every station a jammin, chr, urban. We get it. That's YOUR preference. There are many people who still like the stuff that doesn't get played. Lite with the "new" format tweak, sounds like every other ac hot ac station. Big 1065 is great, but again. They play the same oldies songs that were in the top 20 at that time period. It sucks. They barely touch on Elvis. If they do, it's one or two songs. Oh, and btw, just because you go to a stations website to look at their playlists, doesn't mean that what they're playing. Bottom line, Lite as it is now...sucks. Plain and simple. Dayton radio is really getting boring and predictable. Time to turn off the transmitters and go to Pandora. No one is listening anymore.

No, I don't want every station a CHR. That had nothing to do with that, so that was a ignorant post if I've ever seen one. I was clearly stating the difference between an AC and Hot AC.

AC = LITE
HOT AC = MIX
CHR = CHANNEL

Simple. I don't know the Big format well enough to know if it sucks or not, but I do know Lite's AC format is extremely boring with all of the old tracks. Yes, Dayton could use a CHR or rhythmic, but if something is working, it's working and Big is.

Well put ljo! For the record, my guess is the reason BIG is on the Dayton airwaves is to be a thorn in Fly's side. ;D

Boring to you. That's subjective. Entertaining to others. You seem to forget that there are other in the world who are older and like certain tracks you find... boring. Listen to your format of choice and leave my station alone. I don't need a padantic post explaining the difference between ac hot ac adualt chr and chr.

Your station? I hope you mean the station you listen to and not the station you program, because you'd think if you work at CC, you'd have better radio knowledge and grammar than that :)

Come on,,, Be nice...We all have a right to an opinion

Okay okay I know it's not everyone's cup of tea...Same can be said for The X,Click 101.5, Hot 102.9...it's a generation/genre thing... I felt the same way in my younger days about beautiful music on the former WPTW-FM and WHIO-FM (then at 99.1....nuff said.)

But there is a newcomer at Lite 94.5 named Doreen doing afternoon shift...so if you're a light rocker,listen and cheer her on...and "like" WLQT on FB.
