WLRH in Huntsville now in HD

Just noticed yesterday that Public Radio Station WLRH in Huntsville is now broadcasting in HD. I read where they moved to a new transmitter site on top of Monte Sano. I've noticed that the signal has improved in the Huntsville metro area. They currently have an HD sub-channel which seems to be broadcasting classical music pretty much all the time. This now makes 4 HD stations in the Huntsville area -- WLRH, WQRV, WDRM, and WTAK.

WHIL in Mobile has always appeared to be on a shoestring budget. Do they even broadcast 24 hours a day?

They do broadcast 24 hours a day. I've inquired about their plans to upgrade to HD, too. They have none, unless someone wants to donate the money. :D

I got to really enjoy MPB over in Mississippi when I lived there. It was a good mix of talk shows and most of the classical was shuffled off to the HD-2 subchannel. For the most part, they do HD right. WHIL is much more music oriented compared to most other NPR affiliates these days. At least that's the way it seems to me. I don't listen to public radio nearly as much since moving down here. WUWF is just too weak to hear clearly where I am.
