WLRS 105.1--Anyone at home?

So maybe my son and me were the only two listening to the Bristol NASCAR race on this station; but during the last two and half laps of the race the automation takes over and puts the commercial break on. Not only that; they mention a sponsor for the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup season....

So we missed the final calls of the race and then were reminded of who sponsored the broadcast during last season.

Ahhhhhh!..... Don't You Just Love It?

ROBOT Radio at its VERY FINEST !!!!

SHAME SHAME!

I wonder if any of this years sponsors heard it? It is over half way in the season so I guess nobody cares. IMHO NASCAR radio is a "hard sell". They do not even have a "regular" affiliate in Atlanta. Just for the one Atlanta Race. Some station will air NASCAR this weekend, but I do not know who has the race this weekend. Look at the stands on most races on TV and you see empty seats.

I think it's safe to say that NASCAR is on the decline. The powers that be at NASCAR have been successful in taking all the passion away from the drivers and sanitizing the sport from anything they deem slightly offensive. I have two clients who were making budget off of the Cup races alone 10 years ago that have now dropped the broadcasts all together because they can't sell them anymore. Personally, I can't tell you the last time I watched a race all the way through. Like the NFL, I suspect once the mega bucks are gone from it, the sport will become entertaining again.

Michael Savage doesn't have a talk show anymore but the 105.1 website still has his show rotating with the other shows at the top of their page listing his show as being on from Noon-3PM.
Even that's outdated because they have been airing Mike Huckabee's show since it started from Noon-3PM.
They dropped The Jim Bohannon Show which was the only show I would listen to on 105.1
And when you click on the Talk Shows Schedule it says that "the programming schedule is not available at this time".

OMG the guy they got to replace savage is terribley boring and crap!!! Wtf are you mainline kids doing with 105.1??? WLRS when it was music was poorly programmed but no one seems to be home as a talk station. Just add water is about all they do.

Christmas music November first and what music format for 2013? What do you all think?
I don't know what WLRS can do that isn't already being done on FM here. Maybe R&B oldies like 94.7 did once? I don't think it will be sports since it wouldn't need to be in stereo. I hope they can do something that involves the WLRS call letters. They are being wasted right now.

Redneck country. I'm talking Hank Jr, Willie, Charlie Daniels Band, Wet Willie, etc. Their transmitter is perfectly situated to pick up the rednecks in southern Jefferson County and Bullitt county. They'd clean up.

Are you saying the place is full of rednecks, white socks, and blue ribbon beer?

Maybe this can pop up on "Family Guy" to give Conway Twitty a rest. :)

Not this kind of country. I'm not talking about this smooth, pop sounding crap that's being passed for country now.

Check out the program lineup on the FM talk website. This proves they are changing formats:

http://www.1051fmtalk.com/105-1-FM-TALK-Programming-Schedule/5301847
That's been on their site since Michael Savage left TRN. I posted about it earlier in this thread.
I do think they will change formats because talk radio doesn't need to be in stereo :) I don't think they turned on the stereo by mistake like someone else suggested.
What they do next is anyone's guess.
