WLRS/WLUE/WNDA Changes

I noticed that 1570 switched call letters from WNDA to WLRS recently. At the same time, 1600 switched from WLRS to WLUE. WNDA is no longer registered. 1570 was News/Talk before switching to classic hits and then back again before simulcasting 1600. Why the changes and is something in the works.

Very interesting. As noted before on this site 1570 bought a translator at 101.9 and are in the process of having it moved.Looks like WLRS will be returning to FM in some form.

Also interesting to note is that translators for 1600 are being planned at 94.1 but they mainly cover the LaGrange and Eminence areas.

I'm thinking that 1570 / 101.9 will become a new rock station as WLRS and that 1600 / 94.1 will remain Spanish "La Poderosa"

If ever there was a time for a new rock station, it's now. I think the WLRS calls should stay retired though.

Tonight I noticed that 101.9 is on the air simulcasting 1570 & 1600 "La Poderosa". The signal is not as good as I thought it would be.Maybe they are just testing it?

La Poderosa is advertising these new frequencies (94.1 is also on the air now apparently too) on their Facebook page:

It means absolutely nothing, though, other than somebody at La Poderosa noticed they were on FM now. I remember they made a big deal out of this on their Facebook page last year as well, when WTUV was in the process of becoming WAKY and suddenly La Poderosa was on 100.1... then La Poderosa completely disappeared from the radio for a month or two.

It seems that "La Poderosa" (translation: "the powerful") is now "101.9 Poder" (translation: "101.9 Power"). They've also got the other frequencies still going at 1570, 1600, and 94.1, but 101.9 is the one they're promoting as the one to listen to. They've changed their social media and website to reflect this, along with a new logo (https://www.facebook.com/poderky/). And RDS on 101.9 also indicates the Poder branding.

I sort of thought New Albany Broadcasting was going to jump back in and do something with the translators up and running, along with the fact that they saw some importance in changing around those call letters, but it doesn't look like that will be happening, at least not for now.
