WLS afternoon Roe Conn Show

I am not sure of the spelling of this guy's name. With all due respect too the name. I found Roe Conn a copy of a Steve Dahl. I was in Chicago recently and found his show almost a carbon copy of Dahl's intellegent talent. I did not care for the show and looked foreward to hearing Art Wallace doing a spot. Jeff Davis sounds great with his stuff and the BIG 890 will always have a place in radio history.

Roe Conn and the show was a try to be funny but just missed the punch line show! Why? I love Steve Dahl and get his brand of humor so I would think Roe would have done the same for me.

Totally different animals. Dahl= no talent Roe= still questionable
<sarcasm>It's amazing how someone with "no talent" can stay on the air for 30 years. Heck, Dahl still gets jobs after he is fired for having "no talent."</sarcasm>

Strange nobody is defending Mr. Conn.

I like Dahl heck I once drank his bottle of Jack on stage.

Took a taxi home. I think?

I don't live there now and I miss home.

I like listening to Roe and the gang on WLS. Never thought to compare him to Steve Dahl, though.

Living out of the Chicago market, I hated it when Steve and Garry moved from FM to AM on WLS. From a programming standpoint, I suppose it made sense, but from a listener not able to listen to FM 94.7, I missed Tommy Edwards and the music.

I like the Roe Conn show, I have been listening to him since he was doing the 9AM-11AM shift on WLS. I never really found Steve
to be entertaining. Steve is very popular as is Roe, I think radio just like anything else in life is a matter of personal taste. I in no
way want to demean Steve or his show, but I think Roe is a lot more humorous than Steve.

I'll stick up for Roe. Not only is he talented but he's part of the old 89 that I loved. It was a great to work with him. Now the real sad thing is Garry is still off the air. There's another great guy and a great talent. I miss them both as well as the days of Drew Hayes and Mike Elder. Dahl on the other hand is OK. But I had a chance to go to CKG back when Harvey Wells was running it, and turned him down because I didn't want to work on the same station as Steve. He's not a n ice guy.

When Roe Conn and Garry Meier worked together on the big 89, that was required listening for me. It would take an act of god to get me away from the radio. Nothing like fridays at 5 with the carnable wagon. As far as I know, Roe still keeps that going.

The canarbl ( Kuh- nar- ble ) wagon was retired to Harry Carray's restaurant, somewhere in the burbs earlier this year.

It is a shame Mr. Meier is not the air. His contribution was so large I always questioned why he was treated as second banana.

He made both Steve and Roe far more popular than either would have been alone.

Totally agree with the last few posts. Meier's short stint on WCKG was some of the best radio I had heard in a long time. It was perfect for my taste. And what a shame that two of Garry's contributors are no longer with us.

Roe Conn is a talented guy. Just wish some of his supporting cast was still with him.

Lots of great talent not working these days.

I was a big fan of Steve and Steve and Garry. Now Steve just sounds old and slowwwwwww. The pace is just snail-like and way too often Steve is his own favorite topic, theme and news story. He sounds like he's just showing up for the check until his current contract expires.

Roe and Garry had magic together. I still treasure the CDs I have of their work together. It's a shame that Zemira Jones and Mitch Dolanz screwed the deal. I'm glad Zemira is unemployed and hoping that Mitch will soon join him waiting for the phone to ring.

Roe has a talented crew. Jim Johnson makes me laugh. Their live shows have been terrific entertainment that draws thousands. It takes listening more than once to understand what they do. Steve didn't invent talk rock radio and there are many more on the air that still work to put on a great show every day. Steve needs to do his last and final live broadcast from Hawaii and stay there.
